Our Services
IntentionAlly offers Coaching, Mentoring, and Consulting/Advising. Although similar in many ways, there are some notable differences.
Consulting
Consulting or Advising is a contract between an individual and an organization, where the individual shares information with the organization based on their background and experience. This information may be focused on a specific knowledge area, such as build-out of a new team, executing a transformation or change program, or implementing an efficiency process using Applied ML, etc.
Mentoring
Mentoring is an engagement between two individuals, where one is more experienced or more senior than the other. The senior individual shares information with the individual based on their background and experience. This information may be focused on a specific knowledge area or it could be more general. Typically, in mentoring, the mentee asks questions of the mentor.
Coaching
In coaching, the coach asks questions of the coachee. Like Mentoring, Coaching also involves two individuals, but they are equal partners in the engagement. The coach may have relevant background and experience that they use to guide the engagement. Rather than simply sharing information, the purpose of the coaching engagement is to facilitate change for the coachee.
It is possible to combine coaching and mentoring services in a single engagement, although to adhere to the ICF Code of Ethics, any power or status difference must be actively managed. We recommend scheduling separate sessions for coaching and mentoring to ensure the role of coach versus mentor has clear delineation.
